Baking or doing crafts with the kids during their holiday break can keep them from getting stir crazy and bored.

5 Fun Activities to Get Kids Through the Holiday Breaks

We’re fast approaching the holidays, and that means that most kids are going to be out of school for a week or longer. This makes it hard for you to focus on what you need to do. Plus, the kids can get a little stir crazy. Here’s some fun activities to help them enjoy themselves a little bit more.

Set up a Play Date

You can set up a play date with one of your kids’ friends. It can be at your house or the other, but they get the chance to see a friend from school. You and the other parent can take turns with play dates and thus you each get a kid-free break, too.

Find Local Activities

Various local activities may be offered, and for free. Check your local paper or city website to find a schedule of events and take advantage of them.

Visit a Park

Take the time to go out to a local park. Let the kids run around, see other kids, and generally blow off some of the extra energy they have.

Create a Craft Bin

Set up a bin, whether it’s a shoebox or a Rubbermaid tote, filled with craft supplies. Fill it with glitter, construction paper, glue sticks, markers, pom poms, and more. Set it on the table or in the middle of the floor and let the kids go to town.

Bake Cookies

Cookies are a great way to keep kids entertained. Depending on their ages, they can bake with you. Otherwise, you can bake cookies ahead of time and then set them down with a bunch of decorating supplies. Let them eat one of their creations and it’s a great way to keep them entertained for hours.

As long as you plan ahead with some activities, the holiday breaks can be fun for everyone.
